London: A Great City Any Time Of The Year

Posted:January 28, 2016 at 5:31 pm

If you are a follower of any of the London blogs such as TimeOut, VisitLondon, Londonist et.al, you should have realised by now that St Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away.  This knowledge is going to cause one of three reactions: 1) Great excitement at either being taken out by or taking out your special someone, 2) Total horror at the idea of spending too much money on overpriced experiences just because it is Valentine’s Day, 3) Couldn’t care less – it is just another day.   There are varying guides to Valentine’s Day in London but at The Harrington, we want to show that London can be a city for celebration with loved ones at any time of the year.

Panoramic views across the Capital:

London can look amazing from many different angles and sharing it with loved ones and friends can make the experience even more magical.  We have two suggestions for seeing London at its best any time of the year.

Romantic Stroll to the top of Primrose Hill

One of the most beautiful views of the London skyline can be seen from the top of Primrose Hill.  London truly comes alive when the sun has gone to bed and the city is illuminated in all its glory.  Why not make the walk up the hill a little more special by taking a bottle of bubbly up with you.  In the summer, you could even do what many Londoners do and take up a picnic. Yes, we get that it is cold now, so as an alternative you could book a table at one of the best vegetarian restaurants in London, which happens to be just around the corner – MANNA.

View London with the Birds

Sky Garden

Everyone knows about the views from the Shard and that there are some amazingly good restaurants to visit. However, we think better views from above can be had at the Skygarden, more formally known as 20 Fenchurch Street.  You do have to book tickets in advance, but unlike the Shard they are completely free.  Not only do you get the best views of London from here (well as long as you don’t get the typical London clouds) but you can have a choice of either booking a romantic dinner at their Fenchurch Restaurant or having a glass or two of bubbly at their SkyPod bar.

Take in a show

The West End has hundreds of plays and shows to choose from and you do not have to go especially on 14th February.  Why not save a bit of money and go on a different night when it will be less busy and you will have a better choice of seats.  Don’t forget you will also find it easier to make a reservation at your favourite London restaurant.

Whether you happen to be staying with us during the Valentine Period or in fact any time until 10th March, we would highly recommend that you take friends, family or that someone special to the amazing and mysterious new show by Cirque Du Soleil called Amaluna.  It is an epic love story between Prospera’s daughter and a handsome young man who gets washed up on the magical island.  Tickets start from £21 per person and being at The Royal Albert Hall, it is just 15 minutes from The Harrington Residences.  For more details about the show  please click here.

Whatever you are doing for Valentine’s Day, whether you are celebrating it or not, there is so much going on in and around London.  Why not take advantage of what London has to offer from the convenient location of the Harrington Residences and book your stay now.  Oh yes, and by the way if you book with us directly you can save up to 30% on your booking.
